Giuseppe Verdi Choral Society presented with the Dante Alighieri Society’s Gold Medal

“MEDAGLIA D’ORO” PER LA CORALE GIUSEPPE VERDI

Our first "unofficial" performance for 2010 was held in the garden besides the Dante Rooms, in Foster St. Newmarket at the "Dante Alighieri Society"s office.
The theme for the "Dante Alighieri Society"s party was “VERDI” (“GREEN”), not only in honour of the great composer, the great Giuseppe, but to celebrate Brisbane’s own Giuseppe Verdi Choral Society as they presented us with “MEDAGLIA D’ORO” for services rendered not only to us but specially to the Italian culture in Brisbane and South East Queensland. CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION AT CANNOSSA-DECEMBER 2009

Once again it's that time of the year when the GIUSEPPE VERDI CHORAL SOCIETY honors its tradition as a volunteer and charitable Organisation as well as its rich Italian heritage by visiting the Cannossa Home for the Elderly at Oxley in Brisbane's west. With its large Italian-background residents, the Cannossa Home and its staff enjoyed a great selection of Christmas Carols in their own language performed by our Choir with an specially selected repertoire for the occasion.

An excellent number of the Giuseppe Verdi Choral Society friends and sympathisers within the wide spectrum of the Italian community in Brisbane dined, wined and were thoroughly entertained by the Verdi Choral Society in yet another successful celebration of the musical magic of Italy and its contribution to World cultural heritage.
